Urbino, National Gallery in Marche (Italy)

Due to the negative opinion of Giorgio Vasari and due to the extraordinary comparison with the artistic style of the son Raffaello, the figure of Giovanni Santi has been not known for hundreds of years and he keeps in anonymous still today, even after the Raineri Varese’s studies.

From 30th November 2018 to 17th March 2019, Giovanni Santi’s show “Da poi … me dette alla mirabil arte de picture” will be in the National Gallery – Ducal Palace in Urbino. Our city will contribute to give him the right to be Artist in this area, where he spent his more important years for his knowledge of art and of the famous “Raffaello”.

The show directors – Maria Rosaria Valazzi and Agnese Vastano  – desire to support to Giovanni Santi to be collocated in the right historic period: to redeem him from the forgetfulness, proved by “Disputa de la picture”; to demonstrate his management ability, which took him to create great workpieces; to analyze his technical capacities, which characterize the quality of his production.
